Sonoma County has long been home to some of the world’s most magnificent oak trees. There is an endless variety of oak trees with beautiful branches, impeccable strength, and extraordinary smell, including Redwood, Blue, Canyon, Valley Oak, and many more.
Here at Santa Rosa Memorial Park we have a special
Heritage Oak tree that is the centerpiece of our newest lawn addition. We recently opened our Heritage Oak Lawn area for those who want traditional upright headstone m
arkers. The quiet simplicity of this spot beneath the protective arms of such an elegant a
nd timeless tree has been well received by our families.
Here are some interesting tidbits of information about oak trees:
- They can live up to 200 years or more.
- They can take in up to 50 gallons of water a day.
- After about 20 years, they start producing acorns.
- The wood is known for its great strength and hardness.
